Exercise #7 PART-2
transcript of energy drinks.
intro
Energy drinks have become very controversial because of their alleged capacity to enhance performance and because of their potential health risks. Is the controversy about either their benefits or dangers valid? Do they help both aerobic (endurance) and anaerobic (speed, power, or weightlifting) performance? Are they helpful enough to justify their use despite potential harm?
What’s definition of energy drinks :
Energy drinks : It works to raise the mental and physical activity levels for people , energy drinks have to contain multiple ingredients known to increase energy. This is usually something along with caffeine, however, there are a few caffeine-free energy drinks available. The amount of caffeine in an energy drink can range from 75 milligrams to over 200 milligrams.
Advantages for Energy Drinks?
Energy drinks can be:-
- Useful when you're training hard .
- Used as a quick pick-me-up during a slow afternoon at the office, but it's important you don't get to the stage where you become reliant on them.
- Focused on increasing fitness levels and endurance, you can gain benefits from the carbohydrate content of energy drinks.
- Some energy drinks can improve memory and improve blood circulation in your brain, eyes and ears.
- Some energy drinks have fruits and herbs that are healthy for example berries they protect your body cells from oxidation

- Insomnia: Energy drinks do a good job of keeping people awake, but when abused, they can cause some people to miss sleep all together. This lack of sleep causes impaired functioning and can be dangerous to drive or perform other concentration heavy tasks.
- Headaches : energy drinks can lead to severe headaches from the caffeine withdrawal symptoms. Changing the amount of caffeine you ingest daily can cause more frequent headaches.
- Addiction: People can become addicted to caffeine and energy drinks. This can lead to lack of functioning when unable to have the energy drink or a financial stress from having to buy

Effects
Most energy drinks contain large amounts of caffeine, which can provide a temporary energy boost. Some energy drinks contain sugar and other substances.
For example, energy drinks that contain sugar may contribute to weight gain — and too much caffeine
Mixing energy drinks with alcohol may be even more problematic. Energy drinks can blunt the feeling of intoxication, which may lead to heavier drinking and alcohol-related injuries.
For most people, occasional energy drinks are fine, but try to limit yourself to about 16 ounces (500 millilitres) a day. If you're keep feeling tired or run-down, however, consider a better — and healthier — way to boost your energy.
Recommendation
Get enough sleep, include physical activity in your daily routine, and eat a healthy food. If these strategies don't seem to help, consult your doctor. Sometimes tired is a sign of an underlying medical condition, such as hypothyroidism or anemia.
There are a few groups for which energy drinks are typically not recommended. If you have an underlying condition such as heart disease or high blood pressure, ask your doctor if energy drinks may cause complications. Teenagers, pregnant women and women who are breast-feeding may want to avoid or especially limit consumption of these beverages.
With the growing popularity of energy drinks, many parents have become concerned about how much caffeine their kids are getting. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that teenagers get no more than 100 milligrams of caffeine a day. Younger children shouldn't drink caffeinated beverages on a regular basis.
Causes
1. Increased Heartbeat
Caffeine acts as a stimulant on the central nervous system, increasing your heart rate. This can be expected as soon as 15 minutes after drinking.
2. Heartburn/Reflux
Caffeine has been shown to relax the esophagus, contributing to gastroesophageal reflux. This can either cause or exacerbate heartburn in susceptible individuals.
3.Diuresis
Caffeine increases the need to urinate because it increases
blood flow through the kidneys and dilates the blood vessels,
making the kidneys produce more waste.
Conclusion:-
At the end energy drinks have benefits and negative, so each person should be carful of the amount of caffeine that he should drink it. Parents must keep there eyes on there own children’s And make sure they don’t drink a lot of energy drinks because it is a unhealthy drink.
